What is an Asset Label?

Phone with Tamper Resistant Label

Asset labels are used by all types of businesses. Their main function is to provide a register of everything (an Asset Register) that is owned by a particular company. Once completed, the register will help to establish the value of the company which is important for Accountants, Shareholders, Inland Revenue etc.

Ideally, asset labels should be difficult to remove to prevent individuals from stealing company equipment or from assets being 'lost' if, for example, a company moves from one site to another. In most cases each asset should be uniquely identified by means of a serial number or barcode (or both) which appear on the asset label.

Asset labels can also be referred to as:

  • Asset tracking labels
  • Asset identification labels/tags
  • Equipment identification labels/tags
  • Equipment labels
  • Asset protection labels
  • Labels to identify assets
  • Stock control labels
  • Asset management labels
  • Asset security labels
